Light in the dark

There are days when the sun fills our hearts and our eyes

Days when we grow and reach to the sky

Days filled with wonder and abundance of joy

And days we can laugh over years later..oh boy

Then there's days when the storm clouds come rolling in

Days when rain falls and that light inside dims

Sometimes hope is lost on a boat out at sea

Times we look in the mirror and just see ugly

And those times they do hurt to scrape and to crawl

Those times of this constant feeling so small

And yet though these thoughts creep in like the darkened night

And sometimes what's lurking can be quite a sight

But it's in these dark spaces where, if we have match

We can shine a light inside that cave And unlock the latch

For without these dark creatures that creep inside

We'd never look deeper to know their true side

So maybe befriend those thoughts in the dark

And just like that, you create a small spark

And the spark though dim now will start to burn burn burn

And the curiosity to know more will yearn yearn yearn

And the more we make friends with these uncomfortable thoughts

Do lessons present themselves that we hadn't been taught

So take the light and the dark in all their abundance

For there are no lessons that are ever redundant

So shine that light bright and hold it up high and before you know it

You'll once more touch the sky.
